Q. How do I know I am buying from a real person?
A.
As with all online transactions, there is an element of risk involved. You take a chance with everything you do online. However there are ways to be more assured you are dealing with a real, honest person. Check their feedback, read the comments other buyers have given them. Check the other auctions by that seller and make sure that everything is consistent (photos, names, etc.) throughout. Send the seller a question, judge their response. In short, if in doubt, don't bid. Click here for some more tips on buying. And check out our list of Ebanned's Verified Sellers.

Q. What is Proxy Bidding?
A.
There are several systems of proxy bids; i.e. the system bidding for you automatically. The system in our software is called MaxBid. Think of 'MaxBid' as someone who stays and watches the auction 24 hours a day while you're off doing more interesting stuff. You activate 'Max' by entering the highest amount you are willing to pay for an item into the place bid box. The system will then bid for you, bidding only enough to make you the high bidder. If someone tops that bid, good old 'Max' places another bid for you and so on up to the maximum amount you've specified. Under no circumstances will 'Max' ever bid MORE than you said. But the system will send you e-mail about an outbid and you can give 'Max' a few more bucks to play with, if you like. Just enter another bid amount and we'll do all the work.

Q. Can I retract my bid?
A.
When you place your bid, you are entering into a binding contract between you and the seller. This system allows you to confirm your bid before actually placing it. We understand that there are some reasons that you just need to withdraw your bid. If you must remove a bid, you will need to Contact Support. Bid retractions are noted and a bidder that uses bid retractions on a regular and steady basis can be subject to having their account suspended

Q. How can I raise my proxy?
A.
If you raise your proxy while you are already the high bidder, you WILL be bidding against yourself. You should always enter the highest amount you are willing to pay when you first place your bid. This way, you will never be disappointed. Your proxy bid is always displayed in your Auction Manager.

Q. I placed a bid, but I don't see it, why?
A.
The first thing to check if you placed a bid and don't see it in the bidding history is to make sure that you refresh the page. This way you will be seeing the most current update. Another reason you may not see your bid is because it may have been too low. Make sure that when you bid that your bid is the same or greater than the minimum bid.

Q. What is a Reserve Price?
A.
A Reserve Price is the minimum amount set by the seller that they will accept for the auction. If you place a bid with a Proxy that is above the minimum bid, your bid will automatically be raised to meet the Reserve Price. A seller is not required to sell below the reserve price set for that listing if one was set.

Q. The auction ended, where can I go to see all the details?
A.
Closed auctions don't hang around cluttering up our system, but they are not lost forever. They are available through your Auction Manager for at least 60 days after the item ends. All the details of the auction you participated in are available from there along with contact information.

Q. I did not get an outbid notice/auction ended notice, what do I do?
A.
It is important to be able to receive emails from the system. If you did not get outbid notices or auction ended notices, you should first verify that your email is correct by using the Change Your Information form. If your email is correct, you should contact your ISP about possible email problems on their end. If you are on AOL, you need to make sure your email controls are set to allow you to receive internet email. Relying on email to conduct your transaction is not a reliable way, be sure to visit your Auction Manager often to see the status of the items you have won.

Q. How long is too long to wait for an item?
A.
Since we do not have any direct connection to the seller to determine when they should send items, we have no way of knowing how each seller runs their business. However, if it has been nearly 30 days and you have had no contact from your seller regarding the status of your purchase, you may contact Ebanned so that we may issue a gentle reminder to that seller.

Q. How can I be protected against fraud?
A. There are many steps you can take to protect yourself from becoming the victim of Internet Fraud. We have outlined a few steps that you can take that may help you, you can see them here.
